Great Barrier Island
Let me introduce you to one of my favourite places in the whole wide world. A New Zealand island paradise, 4.5 hours via ferry from Auckland City. To me, Great Barrier Island is NZ in is rawest form. Fairly certain I’ll be retiring here. We spent a week there exploring the coastline & bush and playing a shit load a trough rock – a made up game involving a stone drive way, a water trough and stoning those eliminated with said stones while they do a funnel. There were injuries. Standard.
This place has it all; white sandy beaches, surf, deep cool rock pools, waterfalls & natural hot springs in the middle of the bush. I miss this Island every day. In the fear of waffling on too much, I’ll just let the photos do the talking. She’s a long one again. Soz. I also made a little video edit – check it out at the bottom of this post!
Please note that the cliff we hiked is on private land and we had permission from the owner to go up there! Don’t try get up there without permission! #respectthelocals. Want to know how to get to the other spots featured? I won’t be much help. My face is always behind the camera so I never remember how to get back to any of the locations. Probably best kept a secret anyway aye…
